The past year's had its ups and downs. I started off 2007 with a work trip to the States, assisting the Finance Team at The Pentagon with the future site of our Financial Services world. This trip was good, in that it helped build on my career, but also because I was able to visit many friends and family that I hadn't see in quite a long time. What began as a 4-month tour, finished in 6 months. I made some great new friends on that trip, and gained some valuable experience, though missed out on 6 months of European travel.

Back in Germany, we started preparing our office for the new "Finance world", which meant, primarily, that we'd start loosing our folks with no replacements. It also meant many extra hours of getting our records and systems ready for the change. Additionally, this past week I was tasked back to work as the commander's secretary, like I had done when I first arrived to Germany - the remaining months will be spent with several "hats", since I'll still be responsible for the office I work in. Plus, if that's not enough, I've been given the "privelege" of designing our new office when we relocate later next year. I get to do all the planning, but will be long gone when the construction is complete.

But, there were good times, too, like reenlisting in the Pentagon Press Room, the promotion notification, and all the fests and parties synonomous with Germany (Oktoberfest, birthdays, holidays, etc). The assignment to Korea was finalized, and I just found out my posting after that: Hickam, Hawaii!

So needless to say, it's been a hectic year, with its ups and downs, but as always, we survive through to another year. Now that Christmas is upon us, I'll be heading down to visit the family in Rome. In January, I've got my sights on South Africa for 3 weeks. And in April, I'll head out of Germany with Osan, South Korea on the horizon.

In closing, I hope this message finds you well and happy for the holiday seasons. I'd love to hear how things are going with you. As always, my home email will stay the same, even when my work email changes for Korea, so you can write me at dreanged [at] hotmail.com... look forward to hearing from you!

Best wishes in the New Year!

Dan
