Seasons Greetings!
It's become customary that I begin the Christmas letter with "What a year it's been!" Well, this year has been no different. The year began the same as last year ended: in Germany; but that's where the similarity ends.
In the first month, I took a trip of a lifetime to South Africa, which included side trips to the Mountainous Kingdom of Lesotho and the Kingdom of Swaziland. I met some amazing friends on this 3-week adventure, in addition to seeing some of the most interesting landscapes I've come across.
In February, my friend Jean and I journeyed back to the U.K. to visit with my Brit friends, and took a side excursion to northern Wales for some sightseeing.
In March, I promoted to Master Sergeant, which brought on an anslaught of new responsibilities to accompany the pay raise (more on that soon).
Come April, it was time to start the moving process, and I left behind some great friends, both American and German, when I departed Spangdahlem.En route to Korea, I stopped over in the United Arab Emarites to visit my buddy Jim in Dubai, followed by a jaunt through Singapore, and a trip to Thailand.
Since the beginning of May, I've been in South Korea, and "keeping busy" has never been more an understatement than my experience over the last 7 months.
It hasn't been all work (though sometimes it feels like it). I've gotten to visit some quite remarkable places in Korea, from the highest peak to the oldest temples. Off the peninsula, I'm hoping, as we cross into the new year, I'll get a chance to visit either Mongolia, China or Australia. Time, workload and money will tell if any come to fruit.
That's really about it for this year.
Cheers and best wishes, for CHRISTMAS is coming soon!!
Dan
